In July , UK ISAR conducted a successful canine training course across various sites in Shropshire, designed to maintain and develop the operational readiness of its canine search teams. The training aimed to ensure that all qualified handlers and dogs continue to meet the standards required for deployment, while supporting those progressing through the modular National Resilience (NR) system. Teams operated across multiple complex and realistic search environments, mirroring the challenges found in international deployments. Activities included ‘affected’ structure searches, operationally focused close-area searches, and collaborative exercises involving multiple canine teams. Competency maintenance, CPD testing, and continued development through the IRO process were key elements of the course, ensuring that both developing and fully qualified teams remain fit for deployment. The course was a success, further strengthening UKISAR’s canine capability.
