The International Timber Shoring Course, recently held at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service’s Training & Development Academy, welcomed a diverse cohort of participants — 14 international delegates and 4 national delegates — for a groundbreaking week of technical rescue training.

This event marked the first time the course has been delivered on an international scale, highlighting UK ISAR’s commitment to global collaboration and capacity-building in urban search and rescue (USAR).
Among the attendees were representatives from Estonia, Malaysia, Spain, and Germany, each bringing valuable experience and insights to the course. Their participation enriched the learning environment, fostering cross-border exchange of ideas and strengthening professional ties within the international emergency respsone partneships and collaboration.

The course provided a unique platform to share best practices, enhance technical rescue capabilities, and build lasting partnerships across national boundaries. This initiative not only strengthens individual and team competencies but also reinforces the shared goal of improving emergency response worldwide.
The success of this international course underscores the UK’s leadership in USAR training and its dedication to supporting international preparedness and resilience.
