UK ISAR’s National Coordinator, Russ Gauden, had the honour of representing the UK at the recent Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) workshop in Taipei. Sitting alongside leading influential experts from across the public, private, and academic sectors, the event focused on strengthening international cooperation in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

This influential workshop provided a platform for sharing UK ISAR’s experience and expertise in emergency response, particularly highlighting key initiatives such as the EDT 2 programme, UK ISAR’s proud operational journey, and its work in community collaboration, engagement, empowerment, and capacity building.
UK ISAR contributed valuable insights through case studies, after-action reviews, and lessons learned from recent responses. These contributions aimed to support the ongoing development and refinement of global policies in disaster risk reduction and emergency management.
The workshop fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas and opened the door to promising new international partnerships. It underscored the importance of shared learning and global collaboration in building resilient communities and effective disaster response frameworks.
