The USAR Coordination Cell (UCC) Course recently took place at MerseyFire’s state-of-the-art Training & Development Academy, bringing together participants from eight countries, including team members from UK ISAR. Held from October 28 to November 1, 2024, the five-day course provided essential training in Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) coordination, preparing participants for high-pressure disaster scenarios.
The course covered a wide range of critical topics, including UCC operations, virtual OSOCC (On-Site Operations Coordination Centre) updates, and effective coordination with local authorities. These key areas ensure that USAR teams are equipped to handle complex emergency situations with precision and teamwork.
The course culminated in a full-scale earthquake exercise, simulating real-world conditions and testing the skills learned over the week. This hands-on training allowed participants to engage in practical decision-making and coordination, reinforcing the importance of global collaboration in disaster response.
The success of this course highlights the vital role of international cooperation in strengthening disaster response capabilities. A huge thanks to all involved for their commitment to improving USAR operations and enhancing global preparedness.
