The UK ISAR management training was aimed at all team coordinators and emphasized the significance of effective communication, teamwork and coordination in high pressure situations. Throughout the training UK ISAR Capability Team reinforced its commitment to maintaining a highly skilled and adaptable team capable of leading successful search and rescue missions and providing critical assistance in times of crisis.
A notable highlight of the meeting was Gordon Macmillan’s interactive session on Cultural Awareness. As an expert in the field, Gordon provided valuable insights and practical guidance to enhance the team’s understanding and sensitivity towards different cultures encountered during search and rescue operations. By promoting cultural awareness, the session aimed to ensure that the UK ISAR team strengthens their ability to navigate complex international environments and forge meaningful connections with local communities.
During the training, Paul Burnham from Protect and Prepare Ltd delivered an interactive and engaging session on Global Risk and Threat specifically tailored for the UK ISAR team. The session covered a wide range of topics, including geopolitical considerations, natural disasters, security challenges, and emerging risks. Paul facilitated discussions and group exercises, encouraging active participation and knowledge sharing among the team members.
An eagerly anticipated session during the training was delivered by Sean Moore, the former UK ISAR National Coordinator. Sean presented invaluable insights and lessons learned from previous deployments. Drawing from his first-hand experiences, he provided the team with a unique perspective on the challenges and successes encountered in search and rescue operations.
Major Nigel Bamford delivered a captivating presentation on Positive Action in the workplace, which proved to be a highlight of the meeting. With his extensive background in leadership and personnel management, Major Bamford shared valuable insights and strategies to promote a positive and inclusive work environment within the UK ISAR team.
The training was privileged to have Sebastian Rhodes Stampa, a guest speaker from the United Nations, who delivered a highly informative session on INSARAG. With his extensive expertise in disaster response and coordination, Sebastian shed light on the significance of INSARAG in promoting global standards and guidelines for search and rescue operations
